My paintings on wood panel are realistic portrayals of subjects that speak to me and the realization of a life long passion. From floral icon, to underwater sea life or traditional still life I challenge myself as an artist to create a work that draws the viewer in and transforms my subject from ordinary to unexpected and extraordinary. I paint in a traditional style of realism developed by Rembrandt and the Dutch still life painters who made the floral subject a classic motif in painting. I find that a close up view of my subjects allows a contemporary approach to a timeless tradition.
